After a couple of quick runs up and down the back alleyway, I reassured myself that I was capable of riding short distances at decent speeds without falling off the bike. This is a good thing.
I just got back from my first run around the block. I didn't go too far, given that it was dark, I have a black bike and I was wearing black clothes.
I had totally forgotten how much fun this can be! Wow! I must be more careful of low branches, though. Getting comfortable enough to look over my shoulder without falling over would be cool too, since I could then cross roads without needing to stop.
I'll try to ride around a bit each night from now on, and slowly extend my range. I do run the risk of getting fit, though. Must be careful. Heh.
I now have, thanks to Stef and a trip to the local bike shop, a functional bicycle. I haven't really ridden once since I was a kid, so I've probably got a few amusing falls coming up.
I fitted new tires and tubes today, and I now own my very own pump! It remains to be seen if I can master this whole "balance" thing to the point where I can use it as transport.
I think I've gone slightly insane or something.
